For the past three years, I have had the opportunity of being pastor of St. Anne's Church. This is a large and ethnically diverse community of approximately 3,000 families, who come together to worship God and reach out to the wider community.

Anne (Hebrew, Hannah, grace; is the traditional name of the mother of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
St. Anne is patroness of women in labour; she is represented holding the Blessed Virgin Mary in her lap, who again carries on her arm the child Jesus. She is also patroness of miners, Christ being compared to gold,
Mary to silver.

In 1649, the Iroquois destroyed Ste. Marie among the Hurons and martyred Fr. Brebeuf and his Companions. This Event severely

retarded the development of the Catholic Church in the area.
