For the past three years, I have had the opportunity of being pastor of St. Anne's Church. This is a large and ethnically diverse community of approximately 3,000 families, who come together to worship God and reach out to the wider community.

Liturgical Ministry

Liturgical

Altar Guild Taking care of altar linens, flowers, small housekeeping tasks As needed
Altar Services Serve at Mass to which they are assigned Once every 4-6 weeks
Children's Liturgy Instructors to help children (Gr.1-4) discover God through the gospel at a level designed especially for them.  Each liturgist is provided with readings and suggested themes.   Adult and student helpers. One hour during Mass per month and three planning meetings a year.
Choirs Offering musical and vocal talent at any of the 4 Masses (Sat. 5pm, Sun. 8:15am,10:00am, & 12:00pm). One hour per week for practice and participate at Sunday Mass.
Junior Liturgy Instructors are needed to help children (ages 3-6) discover God and His Love of them at their own level of understanding. Written lesson guidelines are provided. Parent helpers are also needed to help with organization and practical assistance. One Sunday per month
Ministers of The Word(Lector) Responsible for the readings at Sunday Liturgy Minimum of one Sunday per Month
Ministers of Hospitality(ushers) As well as collecting the Sunday offerings, they organize the gift bearers, keep order during Communion, parking control. Sunday Mass of their choice plus special celebrations as required.
Greeters Welcome parishioners as they arrive for Mass. Same commitment as usher

Social Group Ministry

Over 55 Group A group of people aged 55 and over who get together for crafts and various social activities including our Annual Craft & Bake Sale. Friday Mornings at 9:45 am,
(Immediately following the Rosary)
Playshop Parents and young children participate in a cooperative learning and social life. Tuesday Mornings
Social Committee A group of people to organize social events. As Necessary
Reception Committee Volunteers to assist at parish receptions or to bake or make sandwiches. As Necessary
Youth Ministry A Gathering for teenagers 13-17 for various social activities and an active involvement in the parish community. Adult volunteers needed. Sunday evenings


Prayer and Scripture Study Groups

Bible Study Following the Paulist Press Program the group studies both the Old and New Testaments. Eight week program. Fall and Winter Program
Women's Bible Study Bible study from a woman's perspective 10 am Wednesday
Evening Prayer Readings from Scripture, Prayers and Singing 6:45pm Thursdays and second Sunday of each month
Faith Sharing An informal faith sharing group which meets to read and discuss the Bible and how it affects our lives. Thursday Evenings
7:30 pm - 9:30pm
Legion of Mary Working in pairs, volunteers take part in visitation of Pilgrim Statue of Fatima, home visitations and assist at Sunday Services held at Peel Manor. Two hours per week. Group meetings on Wednesdays at 7:30 pm.
Junior Legion of Mary Meet each week to pray together. All Children invited. Tuesday evenings
6:30 - 8:00 pm
Portuguese Prayer Group A group that gathers for open prayer and review the reading for Sunday Mass. Every Friday Evening at 7:30pm.


Catechetical Groups

Group General Description Time Required
     
Babysitting Team During 10:00 am Mass until 12:00pm.
Adults and student volunteers needed.
One Hour a month if team is large enough.
Baptism Team Work with parents of children to be baptized. Be present at Baptism as host and commentator. Once a month or less often if team is large enough.
Marriage Preparation Preparation couples meet in their home with couples preparing to marry; the program is provided.
PRAYER COUPLES are asked to pray at their own convenience for a couple in the Marriage Preparation Program.
One night per week for a seven week period.

A few minutes a day for a seven week period.
RCIA Sponsors Sharing your faith with someone who is seeking membership into the Catholic Community. A one year commitment is necessary.
Sacramental Preparation Catechists required to assist in Parish programs designed to prepare children and adolescents for the Sacraments. Saturdays
Religion-in-Life To assist in the spiritual growth of Cubs, Scouts, Brownies, Guides, Pathfinders and Venturers. Six Friday evenings in January and February.


Parish Organizations

Bereavement To journey and comfort people who have experienced a loss. Mass of Comfort & Hope. Quarterly
Building & Maintenance Doing repairs & ongoing maintenance on building and grounds. As necessary
Caring & Sharing A growing network of people within the community, responding to each other's needs in times of crises, particularly food.
Catholic Family Services Further information through the church office.
Development & Peace A group of concerned people to look at Social Justice issues, etc.
Knights of Columbus A service organization for Catholic men to join in such activities as fund raising for charities as fund raising for charities and representing the church at various functions. Monthly meeting
Pastoral Visitors Home Visits - to the sick, lonely etc.
Hospital Visits - to the sick
Peel manor Visits - to the elderly, lonely
Individual arrangements
Minimum 1 hour per week
Minimum of one Sunday per month
Preemie Project Volunteers make hospital gowns for premature babies. Help is needed for cutting, sewing and finishing gowns. As well as a special date for "Sew-A-Thon" our group continues on a on-going bases due to increasing demand by local Hospitals.
Cherish Birth Right
Right-to-Life
A group in support of life beginning at conception. Meetings at Peel Memorial Hospital. "Life Chain" organized. Any time offered is greatly appreciated.
St. Louise Outreach Centre There is a need for general maintenance, kitchen organization and help; sorting of food, clothing, furniture, office duties. Any time offered is greatly appreciated. Time is variable
St. Vincent de Paul Society Helping needy families receive food, clothing, furniture, etc. Time is variable
Sharelife Sharelife is a volunteer Lenten fund raising organization of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Toronto to care for the least among us . During lent
Homeless Shelter Serving evening meal. One Wednesday evening per month.

Alpha Ministry

Alpha Group General Description Time Required
     
Alpha Team Anyone interested in finding out more about Christian faith. For people interested in a practical renewal of their Christian faith. Weekly meeting on Wed. Nights. Course runs over eleven weeks and it starts on Jan. 17/2001
